Learn to Skate Program
Our mission is to teach the fundamentals of ice skating while utilizing a variety of safe, fun and challenging instructional techniques. The Learn to Skate Program strives to develop basic skating skills, self-confidence and social skills while encouraging skater’s participation.
Learn to Skate is for all ages. The philosophy for Enfield Hockey Association is to ensure all members are encouraged in the enjoyment, instruction, practice and advancement of all aspects of skating. We are committed to fostering the development of every skater that enrolls in our program.
About the Program
A strong skating foundation is the key to a good hockey player. The Learn to Skate program is designed for players with little to no skating experience. Players will learn basic skating skills (i.e. forward & backward skating, edges, turns, basic spins & jumps,) using fun developmental drills. Because of the age and or abilities of skaters in this group, it is mandatory that a parent or an adult responsible for that child remain in the rink at all times while their child is on the ice.
Each skater in the Learn to Skate Program must have the following equipment for all ice sessions:
Hockey helmet with face mask
Hockey ice skates
Gloves (hockey gloves are not required however recommended)
After a skater has achieved skating without assistance they will need a hockey stick.
The program will be divided into 2 sessions with one ice time each week that will be 50 minutes in duration with Coach Instruction. Check back on specific dates and times.
Registration is required for this program. Registration takes place online at enfieldhockey.org. Click Here Payment must be made in full by the third week of the session unless special arrangements are made with the Enfield Hockey Association Treasurer and Director of Learn to Skate.
